Meet Our Head Chef: Jose Luis Marzuka

From the warm kitchens of Trujillo, Peru, to the heart of Virginia, Chef Jose Luis Marzuka’s journey is one of passion, tradition, and dedication. His love for cooking began as a young boy, helping his mother cater weddings and community events. It was in those early moments that his culinary spark was lit.

He went on to study in the renowned chefs’ kitchens of Trujillo, honing his skills and perfecting the flavors of Peru. After finishing his training, he opened not one, but two successful restaurants back home—Antojitos and Habemus Papas—each a reflection of his deep love for authentic Peruvian cuisine.

A visit to the U.S. to see his brother turned into a new chapter. Jose Luis began working as a chef in Virginia, where, with the help of a close friend, he expanded his culinary knowledge and mastered new techniques.

Eventually, a dream came to life—QATA Peruvian Cuisine. Alongside his brother, Chef Jose Luis now brings the vibrant flavors and soul of Peru to every dish, combining tradition with innovation, and always cooking with heart.
